I competed in a triathlon Sunday in Cohasset, Massachusetts. A thoughtful young woman held up a sign printed in large letters during the 5K run, third leg of the race: “you have great stamina… call me”. I immediately appreciated the humor. If I had seen that sign in my twenties, I probably would have thought it was clever, and forgotten about it. As a runner in my sixties, I was a lot more enthusiastic: thank you for a good joke – your encouragement is not forgotten!
Thanks to all the spectators who come out to watch these races, especially those who help so many athletes reach the finish line.
